Text on screen: Mass Transit. Math Transit.

On screen: Two young moms ride a bus.

Kayla: Oh, what is that smell?

Mom 1: Oh, there you go. Ugh.

On screen: A man eats sardines from a can with his fingers.

Kayla: Well, at least we only have five more stops.

Mom 1: That’s true.

Kayla: Did you get that girls? Five stops.

On screen: Twin babies sit in a double stroller next to their moms. They watch as mom counts with her fingers.

Kayla: One stop, two stops, three stops…

Mom 1: Kayla, what are you doing?

Kayla: I’m teaching the girls to count.

Mom 1: [laughs] To count? They’re just 10 months old, they’re too young to understand.

Kayla: No girl, you’d be surprised. Babies are a lot smarter than you’d think.

On screen: The camera zooms in on the two babies.

Baby 1: She’s right. We understand basic math ideas like spatial relationships?

Baby 2: Spatial what?

Baby 1: You know, “in and out,” “over and under,” “open and close.” Oh, for instance, see that sleepy guy? He’s like an entire lesson all by himself.

On screen: Across from the twins, a man is asleep in his seat. His mouth opens and closes while he sleeps.

Baby 1: Open and close.

Baby 2: I know that one.

Baby 1: See? And check out that girl.

On screen: A passenger holds a full cup of iced tea.

Baby 1: Is her cup empty or full?

Baby 2: It’s full!

On screen: The bus goes over a bump and the entire drink spills on the floor.

Babies: Whoa!

Baby 2: Now it’s empty.

Babies: [laugh]

Mom 1: Well, I think you’re rushing it. At least wait until they can talk.

Kayla: Kids understand so much before they actually start talking.

Mom 1: Hmm.

Kayla: I count the steps with the girls every day.

Mom 1: Counting?

Kayla: Yeah.

Mom 1: Now that’s a tall order.

Mom 1 and Kayla: [laugh]

On screen: The twins look at a tall man who stands and walks to the exit.

Baby 1: Tall.

On screen: A taller man stands up.

Babies: Ooh, taller!

Baby 2: You’re right, this bus is like a school on wheels.

Baby 1: Yeah. But sadly, we’re at stop number five. We’re getting off.

On screen: The two men walk down the sidewalk as the bus pulls away.

Babies: Um, Moms, hello?

Mom 1: Wait Kayla, wasn’t that our stop?

Kayla: Oh! Driver, can you please stop the bus?

On screen: The bus stops as the stroller is pushed down the aisle toward the exit.

Baby 1: You know what?

Baby 2: What?

Baby 1: I just pooped.

Baby 2: Number two, that’s also math!

Babies: [laugh]
