To the right of the educator, another child—named Yolo—stands up and holds a white tub in one hand. A child named Azaria stands facing the educator and hands the educator a clear jar with a brown lid.
Educator: Open?
Azaria: Eh-eh-eh-eh-eh!
Educator: Twist, twist, twist. Open.
On screen: The educator twists the lid three times before holding the jar in one hand and the lid in the other.
Yolo: Yay!
On screen: There are two white tubs on the ground, and Yolo sits into one of them with legs dangling over the edge of the bin.
Educator: Yay. Look at Yolo sitting inside that little tub.
On screen: The educator bends forward to talk to Betsy, who is reclining in the educator’s lap, and points to Yolo. Betsy stands up, and the educator stands on their knees and moves back slightly before kneeling again. Yolo begins to crawl with their hand in a white tub, pushing it forward, which, in turn, pushes the other tub. The educator puts their hand out to grab the tub being pushed by the other tub.
Educator: That’s funny.
Betsy: Aaay
Educator: Yeah. He sat in a little tub. Sometimes, we sit in the big tubs.
On screen: Betsy touches the tub with their foot before bending down and climbing into the tub.
Azaria: Eh-eh-eh-eh.
Educator: Do you want that one?
On screen: A large, shallow, red tub containing a pillow and some toys is nested inside a green tub of the same size. The educator unstacks the tubs and removes the items from the red tub.
Educator: Or do you want to come into a tub?
On screen: In the next scene, the educator is holding Azaria with one arm while kneeling next to the red tub. A child named Deegan sits in the green tub, and Betsy sits in the red tub while holding a small white tub in their lap. Yolo stands in between the two tubs while holding the other small white tub.
Educator: They put the little tubs inside the big tubs. Just be careful with his head, okay?
On screen: Yolo waves the white tub slightly and climbs into the big green tub next to Deegan. The educator reaches out their hand to support Yolo as they climb into the tub. At the same time, Sofia walks up to the educator holding a purple bowl with several items inside of it. Azaria reaches out and grabs for some of the items in the bowl.
Educator: Is there room for two boys in a tub?
Sophia: Eeeeeeeeeeh.
On screen: The educator places their hand on the bowl helping Sophia move it away from Azaria, who is being held.
Educator: Okay. Sophia’s using that right now. Yeah. Maybe Azaria would like a cup. Okay.
On screen: The educator reaches into the large red tub, pulls out a cup, and picks up an item from the ground. The educator stands on their knees, moves to the right of the tubs, and repositions to face the tubs before kneeling back down. The educator places the item into the cup and lets Azaria hold it.
Educator: Rub-a-dub-dub, two boys in a tub.
On screen: Besty holds up a finger and thumb and points to the ceiling.
Educator: Yeah.
Betsy: Oo.
Educator: Yes. And rub-a dub-dub, one Betsy in a tub.
On screen: In the next scene, the educator is kneeling on the floor with several small, colored balls on the floor in front of them. Betsy is standing to the left of the educator. Sophia is kneeling to the right of the educator, and Deegan walks up and bends down to pick up some balls in front of the educator.
Educator: Okay, what will we do?
On screen: Deegan picks up two balls and places them in the small, white tub that is to their left. Sophia picks up two balls, walks forward to the white tub, and tosses them in. Betsy picks up two balls and taps them together before throwing them into the tub.
Deegan: Aaa.
Educator: Deegan says put in. Okay, let’s go. More in. Here, Ellie. Let’s see if we can pick them all up.
On screen: The educator makes a gesture by holding their arms out wide, moving them inwards, and lifting them upwards.
Betsy: Eh-oh.
On screen: Betsy points towards a yellow ball to the right of the educator, and the educator points in the same direction. Betsy runs towards the ball.
Educator: Oh, I see a yellow one over there. Would you like to get that one?
Sophia: Hey. Aaah!
On screen: Sophia picks up the white tub that holds the balls the children have picked up and holds it above their head. All of the balls fall out onto the floor. In the next scene, the educator places all five fingers on the left hand together and all five fingers on the right hand together. They tap the fingers from both hands together, using sign language to communicate the word “more.”
Educator: Do you want to do it again? Do it more?
On screen: Sophia holds a tube. Sophia bends down to pick up a ball and place it in the tube that is held upright. The ball falls out the other side.
Sophia: Aht.
Educator: Yes. Uh-oh. You want to fill yours up, too?
On screen: Betsy walks up to the educator holding a clear jar. The educator picks up two balls and holds them out to Betsy.
Educator: Put the ice cream in. Put the ice cream in.
On screen: Sophia holds the tube up and peers through one end of it.
Educator: Where’d it go, Sophia?
On screen: The educator reaches out to pick up a ball but leaves it on the ground closer to Sophia. Sophia places one end of the tube on the ground. Sophia picks up a different ball. The tube falls over, and Sophia puts their mouth on the ball.
Educator: Oh, you got two in there?
On screen: The educator points into the jar Betsy is holding.
Educator: Pour it in the bowl.
On screen: Betsy dumps the two balls from the jar into a purple bowl.
Educator: Oh, one rolled away.
On screen: The educator points to the ball that rolled off to the right. Deegan walks over and picks up the tube Sophia had been playing with.
Betsy: Dah.
Educator: One rolled away.
Betsy: Dah.
On screen: Sophia walks over to the bowl that Betsy was pouring balls into, kneels down, and picks up the bowl containing one ball.
Educator: Will you get it?
Betsy: Dah dah?
On screen: Azaria walks over holding a clear jar with a brown lid and hands it to the educator.
Educator: Yeah. Would you like yours open?
On screen: The educator twists off the top of the jar and holds the jar and the lid out for Azaria. In the next scene, Betsy sits in the educators’ lap holding two balls and taps them together. Sophia is collecting items in the purple bowl, and Azaria approaches the educator holding a jar with a brown lid on it and a green ball inside.
Educator: Tap, tap, tap two balls. Tap, tap, tap two balls. Tap.
Azaria: Eh-eh.
Educator: Oh, uh-oh.
On screen: The educator takes the jar from Azaria and unscrews the lid.
Educator: Open.
On screen: The educator holds the jar in one hand and the lid in the other. Azaria takes the jar and lid out of the educators’ hands.
Educator: Yay. What are you collecting, Yolo?
On screen: Yolo walks toward the educator holding a basket over one shoulder. The basket contains two balls and some other items.
Educator: Would you like a ball for your basket, Yolo? Do you want more?
On screen: The educator holds out a green ball. Yolo stops walking and places the basket on the ground in front of the educator. Yolo takes the ball out of the educators’ hand and places it into the basket. Azaria holds the jar with the ball in it.
Azaria: Muh. Yeah.
Educator: Yeah.
On screen: In the next scene, Besty sits in the educators’ lap holding a clear jar in one hand and a blue ball in the other. Besty places the ball in the jar and shakes it around.
Educator: Got it? Yay.
On screen: Azaria holds the jar and lid containing a ball between two hands. The jar is positioned sideways, so the side of it is parallel to the ground. Azaria holds it out to the educator. The lid slides off of the top of the jar, and the ball bounces out. Azaria drops the jar and the lid.
Azaria: Mah-mah-mah!
Educator: Uh-oh. Uh-oh, Azaria. You have to get your pieces. The lid.
On screen: Azaria walks over to the lid. Azaria picks up the lid and a tube that is on the ground. Azaria places the lid on the top of the tube. The tube falls over. Azaria picks it back up and places the lid on top.
Educator: Oh, maybe she has a new idea. You put the lid on top.
