Text on screen: After sorting the vehicles by color, Ezekiel showed interest in counting the number of vehicles in each row.

Educator: I’m going to be there in a few minutes.

On screen: Ezekiel sits in a chair. An educator sits off screen next to Ezekiel. The mat with the rows of vehicles is in front of them. Ezekiel points to each vehicle in the green row as they count.

Ezekiel: One, two, three, four, five.

Educator: How many?

Ezekiel: Five.

On screen: Ezekiel holds a marker in their right hand. Ezekiel reaches over the mat with the right hand and uses the marker to write the numeral five on a piece of paper.

Educator: Five. The red, how many red ones do you have?

On screen: Ezekiel points to, and counts, each red vehicle.

Ezekiel: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

Educator: Eight. And which one is the number eight on your number line? Yes, you got it. Eight.

On screen: Ezekiel points to the numeral eight on the number line sitting right above the mat with the rows of vehicles. Ezekiel reaches over and writes an 8 with the marker on the piece of paper.

Educator: So far, which one is the biggest number? Eight.

On screen: Ezekiel points to the row of red vehicles.

Ezekiel: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen.

On screen: Ezekiel points to, and counts, each vehicle in the yellow row.

Educator: Thirteen. What’s your next color?

Ezekiel: Orange.

On screen: Ezekiel points to the orange row of vehicles.

Educator: Orange. So far, which one is the biggest number so far?

Ezekiel: This one.

On screen: Ezekiel points to the yellow row.

Educator: The yellow one, huh? Yes, you are right.

On screen: Ezekiel points to, and counts, each orange vehicle.

Ezekiel: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

Educator: Eight. Did you have another eight, the same number? Yeah.

On screen: Ezekiel points to the 8 on the number line.

Educator: What was another color that was the same number?

On screen: Ezekiel points to the numeral 8 which was written down on the paper and then points to the red vehicle row.

Educator: The red one, huh? Those are the same numbers.
