On screen: As Ashley Freitas speaks, video clips show her interacting with children at a water table.
Ashley Freitas, Toddler Educator: We opened up the water table. We had water in there with some soap, along with sponges and some measuring cups and measuring spoons. So really just allowing them the opportunity to fill up the cups, using the sponges or using the spoons, using the other sizes of the cups as well, too.
On screen: Ashley works with a child at the water table. The child tries using a spoon to scoop water into a large cup.
Ashley: Can you use your spoon to fill it up? Let's see. Oh, you used that one? The measuring cup?
Child 1: No.
On screen: The child knocks over the cup as he picks up a sponge, then resets it.
Ashley: No? Oh, careful then. Careful. Can we put water in there to make it heavy? Squeeze. Good work.
On screen: He begins to squeeze the saturated sponge over the large cup.
Ashley: You want to squeeze that one?
On screen: The child takes the sponge Ashley is holding and squeezes it over the cup.
Ashley: You did two sponges.
On screen: He picks up a third sponge and squeezes it over the large cup. He continues to do this with more sponges. The large cup continues to fill to the top as he squeezes sponges into it.
Ashley: Three. You want to do this one? Four. Here's five. Five. Get another. Six. Squeeze it hard, hard, hard. Whoa. You're working so hard, Preston. Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze, squeeze, squeeze. It's almost full. Do this one. Squeeze. It's almost filled up.
